Lincoln Man Sentenced for Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine

United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods announced that Johnathan Klein, 31, of Lincoln, Nebraska, was sentenced on October 15, 2026, in federal court in Lincoln for possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine actual. United States District Judge Susan M. Bazis sentenced Klein to 130 months’ imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal system. After Klein’s release from prison, he will begin a 5-year term of supervised release.

Law enforcement learned that Klein had been dealing methamphetamine to a person between October of 2024 and March 13, 2025, in varying amounts.  They stated they bought 1/8 ounce 10 times, an ounce 30 times, four ounces twice, and 5 ½ ounces once.

On March 13, 2025, a Lincoln Police Department officer committed a traffic stop on a vehicle with Klein as a passenger.  During a search of the driver’s person, a small bag of methamphetamine was found, which resulted in a search of the vehicle. A larger bag, containing two baggies of methamphetamine, was found on the front floorboard where the co-defendant driver and Klein had been sitting.  Syringes, scales, and baggies were also found in the vehicle.

The two baggies of suspected methamphetamine found on the floorboard were sent to the Nebraska State Patrol Crime Laboratory. Further testing showed one of the baggies containing 57.72 grams of methamphetamine with a purity of 99.3%, resulting in at least 54 grams of methamphetamine actual.  The second bag contained 54.73 gram of methamphetamine. No purity analysis was conducted on that bag.

The case is pending against the co-defendant.

This case was investigated by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force.
