LAFAYETTE – On September 16, 2026, a federal grand jury returned an indictment charging Joseph Regan , Jr ., 28, of Jennings, with one count of Attempted Production of Child Pornography by a Parent or Guardian, one count of Attempted Production of Child Pornography and one count of Possession of Child Pornography. If convicted, Regan faces up to 30 years in federal prison with a mandatory minimum of 15 years along with five years or more of federal supervised release.
The indictment alleges that Regan attempted to produce child pornography of a minor and that he possessed child pornography located on electronic devices that were seized during the investigation.
U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Keller for the Western District of Louisiana made the announcement.
Homeland Security Investigations, the Jennings Police Department, and the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office investigated this case. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Craig R. Bordelon, II and Holly Y. Pailet with assistance from Legal Assistant Tanya Broussard.
An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
This case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by the U.S. Attorneys' Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
